Unwired has halted its shares from trading pending an announcement.

What the announcement contains is what I am interested in!

Engin aren’t in a trading halt, so it’s not going to become engin/Unwired anytime soon it seems.

The halt might be a result of a few things, but I’m a fan of speculation when such matters come to light. So I thought I might round up what possible outcomes might be at the other end of the trading halt.

Unwired running a capital gaining share offer.
Possible. But Engin have fuelled the dollars into them, so not likely.

Unwired announcing that they are nearing ready to deploy WiMAX, pending the sign off of a supplier.
Possible. Likely. But not extremely likely.

Unwired could possibly be announcing a delay to the deployment of WiMAX, which would negatively affect things.
Possible. Likely, but less likely than all else.

It could be good news with a deployment agreement, afterall, they are only just weeks cashed up from engin’s share purchase.

In other news of the wireless kind, Telstra’s new NextG ad can be seen on TV.

I saw it tonight, it is really funny, it features the combi van from the previous NextG ad, except the van is speeding.

I found it funny, and a good show of the marketing team at Telstra.

But it’s misleading.

The ad features a great deal of the song “I’ve been everywhere man”.

The song in the ad should be something like: “I’ve been everywhere man, I’ve been ev-”.
And the van should then be stopped at a red light, being the usage meter.

Because once you’ve quickly reached that small usage cap on NextG, it’s basically no internet at all, unless of course you have a combi van and a house, in which case, keep going, let Telstra take the house, and you can live in the combi van!

But what do you do next month?

I trust Telstra might be a little more careful in the advertising in future, as the ad that is currently on gives the false representation that you can enjoy the broadband service supplied over NextG’s mobile network, and the reality is, only if your a millionaire.
