Our driveway is a place for our car to be parked. Not so.
The car below, is a clear example of the same idiot who has no idea of how to park. The first failure is to park within 50cm of the kerb - he may as well as park out in the traffic.
Our driveway, with [...]

At least, I tried to trick the new TomTom GPS Navigator we picked up today.
I tried, and tried, took wrong turns and ignored every direction, waiting for it to at some point say … I quit.
But, it was too good. It was a little slow at some points to tell me of how to take [...]

That’s of course the male lion at Taronga Zoo, where we decided to visit today, and take a look around at the various animals on display.
The Lion in the above picture is really cool! They keep them in behind ‘glass’ type cages, so you can see them in full view.
The bear wasn’t very playful, and [...]

… and opening on our car now.
At long last, we can finally open and close the window on the car.
The fix came today, as we were able to track down the auto electrician back at the workshop, and collect the items.
Poor bugger has been really sick, and has had us chasing him down for the [...]

So far, we have been trying to get an issue fixed with the car that has taken 20 days to try and get sorted out.
The only issue with the car itself is the back window doesn’t actually work (electric windows), we planned on getting it fixed, but, we seem unable to get a pink slip, [...]

At least, one window is closing, and it’s not the one I want unfortunately.
The window for our registration renewal is closing, and we have a little bit of time to accomplish a few things.
We need to get the electric window working, that is, opening and closing, because it doesn’t open, which means we can’t register it, [...]

And on, and on.
We are trying to seek the screws involved with our window repair to the car.
The auto electrician (who is a well known person to us, and others), is still away, and isn’t working until next week, it seems, so that’s going to cut it a little too close to rego time (or [...]

… and the pain still continues for the hunt for a pink slip for the car.
We are still no closer to fixing the only flaw found with the car, the rear left electric window won’t actually wind down.
The wreckers stuffed us around a few times, and the auto electrician got screwed around as a result.
The auto [...]

For some reason the drop outs we were experiencing nightly on the ADSL2+ service have improved, such that we haven’t had a drop out since 7AM, and before that, it was 6PM the night before.
That looks to be improving, but we won’t have anything definite til tomorrow, after tonight, so that we can see if [...]

My car is loving the attention it is getting right now, no doubt.
I took it back to the auto electrician to get the window part fitted, and.. well, it is one which is broken and doesn’t work. To be expected from a wrecked car, I suppose.
Anyway, at the auto electrician, the door latch packed it [...]

We took the car to the auto electrician today, and low and behold, the parts recycler gave us the wrong dang size electric window mechanism.
So, tomorrow is going to be spent tracking down the right part, and then seeing if they can supply, if not, venturing a little further south to find one!
The auto electrician [...]

We took the car in for its pink slip last week at some point, and we failed the pink slip for the fact the rear left window doesn’t go down (its electric).
What I found amazing then is that the car was just given a pink slip by another mechanic back in August 2007, when it [...]

CTP is a critical requirement when registering a vehicle, there’s no option that states you choose to wear all costs for driving an uninsured vehicle, and so forth, you are required to have it to register the vehicle.
However, something that amazes me, yet annoys me a lot is the clear differences in CTP costs between [...]

It’s amazing how many people will do stupid things on the road.
I was out tonight, up for a bit of ice cream, so we went to the shops, and as I went around- I don’t need to say this, do I, you guessed it, a roundabout, some idiot decides that slowing down and indicating intentions [...]

Here’s one sure way of knowing it is the jolly (or is it silly) season.
The idiots on the road increase EXPONENTIALLY!
Today, I did a few Ks, we went to the local shopping centre, and collected a few items.
On the way there:
1. The car in front was going slow as. Almost like they were trying to [...]

This Christmas-New Year period on Australian roads has been better thus far then previous years, with the road toll down to 2 from 7 last year in New South Wales.
That’s great news in the face of the busiest period on the roads, but perhaps the rush will be on the way back home?
Or has Kevin [...]

Over the last week, not a lot has arrived in the news. Some might say its a slow news week, but that’s not true, because I know what a slow news week is like in the media, and the quality of journalism hasn’t dropped that far as yet.
For me, I spent the last week helping [...]

What on earth happened over the last week? Not heavily packed, but packed none the less.
Monday, we had to get my server back online, and change systems around, and set up my partners machine. That task carried over through Tuesday with software setup.
The changeover was a smooth change, and turned out to be a good [...]

That’s right. I did it. It took a fair while, but I finally did it.
I went to the RTA today, and got my provisional license.
There was no bribery involved. So it’s real. I do have my licence, and it only took 6 weeks to get it.
It’s fantastic. No longer must I have my transport situation [...]

The excellent part of having identical (or near identical) hardware is when something cops a nice drink of Sprite, you can simply swap the components over, and power it up and your good to go again.
You can’t generally do that when swapping between say an Intel 865PE chipset, and an Intel P35 chipset, simply because [...]

Unfortunately (and its very unfortunate), the update I planned to release tonight isn’t going to go ahead as planned due to an issue with a particular provider.
The particular provider issue wasn’t determined until just recently, but has been fixed.
The reason for the delay? Well, I was investigating that issue and the time it took to [...]

News that the parents of child that starved to death now have warrants issued against them for Murder has surfaced. Which is shocking really, because the father seemed to maintain and protest his innocence.
But if they truly were responsible for that (who lets a child get to that low weight in the first place?), then [...]

Today I took a practice test for the lead up to my visit to the RTA with the driving school I am with.
Unfortunately, the test didn’t go so well, with just four fail items, and I had no idea why on earth I made them anyway.
Fail item 1: Colliding with a vehicle, pedestrian or object.
Thankfully, [...]

A new idea from the man of new ideas (sometimes unrealistic), Morris Iemma.

Brilliant thinking Morris. Very brilliant. What do you think you will acheive here? Let’s have [...]

I sometimes wonder why bother with a 50K limit if the slower speed is likely to cause people to rush to try and get places sooner.
Would people be driving a lot faster if the speed limit was removed?
Or are they feeling restricted by the speed limit and are just responding to restrictions in a typical [...]

Wednesday last week, a news story made its way to news.com.au, and that article described a situation, where two drivers, one male, the other female, were involved in an incident involving a lane charge.
The situation got flared up, after the female chose to “flash her lights, stick her finger up”, which apparently was not offensive [...]

There was three seperate topics I wanted to write about tonight.
Problem for me is, writing three seperate topics would take considerable time that I could be doing other things with.
I’ll do short recaps of the two items I was going to do this post on, and focus primarily on the next Telstra scam afterwards.
Flat tyre, [...]

One of the more difficult items in relearning how to drive a manual car is getting clutch control perfect.
What was never really explained to me by.. anyone.. was that with the clutch in, the engine disconnects, thereby making the driveshaft freespin.
Essentially, with the clutch in, the engine will simply sit and spin, with the wheels [...]

I was in the middle of a driving lesson today (don’t laugh, I really have just been uber lazy in getting my license - or is that licence?), and realised something.
There is entirely double standards involved between learner drivers, and that of regular road users, and its rather silly.
For example, as anyone on the Central [...]
